Six bank programmers captured over N5m robbery in Edo
Six speculated bank programmers who apparently took N5 million from a casualty’s record, have been captured by the agents from the Anti-abducting and Cybercrime Unit of the police in Edo State.
The speculates distinguished as David Ogunowo, Abiodun Adesina, Yusuf Ademola, Balogun Hakeem, Adetono Lukeman, and Adesola Kayode, were captured on Friday January 29 after purportedly pulling out N5 million from the casualty’s record through a Point of Sale (POS) administrator in Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State.
This apparently happened after the casualty’s telephone was taken during a burglary activity in October in Benin City, with the SIM card in the telephone purportedly offered to the programmers.
One of the researching officials said;
“The ledger was effectively opened in Lagos. They at that point went to Ijebu Ode in Ogun state where they purchased a new ledger from a 28-year-elderly person for the amount of N30, 000.
“The amount of N1.5 million was first moved into the record and removed in Ijebu Ode in a Point of Sales (POS) shop. Another N3.5 million was subsequently sent into the record of a POS administrator who at that point gathered his bonus and gave them the money.”
Admitting to the wrongdoing, one of the speculates Kayode said;
“We purchase taken SIM cards from equipped burglars and cheats. We typically survey the ones that have cash in their ledgers and eliminate the cash.”
The police representative in Edo State, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the presumed programmers would be examined and charged to court soon.
